Our Story

Bev Saumer is a retiree living in Langley B. C. in Western Canada. She has been working with wood as a hobby for several years, starting with whittling small animals using only a carving knife and sand paper.  The use of power tools has made it possible to do a lot more with the wood she loves and her band saw is now her favorite tool.

A small workshop in her home contains all her tools of the trade and she spends a few hours almost every day squirrelled away in her shop. She likes to feel the wood in her hands as she sands it smooth; this is her favorite part of creating these pieces. Applying the finish then brings out the grain and this is when all the work pays off.  All the hidden colours pop and the piece comes to life.  Each piece is her own creation and she makes each one according to the properties of the wood. She says “the wood tells me what it wants to be”.
